The Washington Heritage Festival returns to Albany Park for another fantastic free day of family fun compered by North East favourite Steve Walls.

The day will include:

  • A Miners Banner Parade that will step off from Washington Gardeners Social Club and pause at the Miner's Memorial Statue where the Miner's Anthem 'Gresford' will be played. The Parade's arrival at the F-Pit Museum in Albany Park will help mark the beginning of the festival.
  • A display of classic cars and vintage buses.
  • Marquees containing a variety of exhibitions and displays which will include a commemoration of World War One and its relevance to Washington. There will also be a celebration of Washington 50, mining banners and local history.
  • An entertainment marquee with a mix of community and professional performances.
  • A full programme of outdoor activities which will include a Punch and Judy as well as Bird of Prey performances.
