Sunderland Echo
The Sunderland Echo was founded by Sir Samuel Storey who launched the newspaper in 1873.
Although 140 years old, the Sunderland Echo has always been ahead of its time.
In 1976 the Sunderland Echo became the first paper in the North East to be completely produced by photo-composition and modern web off-set printing, allowing for colour pictures for the first time.
In 1996 the website was launched, and today the Sunderland Echo print and online editions have a combined audience of 184,000.
We also publish a number of magazines, guides, supplements and special publications. Everything we publish balances reader demand for quality-led editorial and features writing, while offering our advertising partners an extended, targeted advertising platform for local businesses.
