Sunderland Live’s first vintage and retro festival - a massive success
Our two day vintage and retro event held at venues across the city last week proved to be a massive success with thousands from the North East attending.
The festival featured the best of vintage fashion, music and beauty from the 1940s through to the 1960s with activities taking place in Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens, Mowbray Park and Roker Park.
Saturday’s events took place in the Museum and Winter Gardens with over a thousand people flocking to the vintage market where clothing, home wares, accessories and crafts were on offer. The sell-out Vintage Afternoon Tea featured a performance by award-winning Scarlet Street while two hundred people grabbed the opportunity to have their photo taken in the Moonbooth.
Outside in the glorious sunshine hundreds of people enjoyed displays by the Wearside Wanderers Scooter Club and live music from North East band’s The Revolutionaires and The Whodlums.
Sunday saw events move to RokerPark where Sunderland District Classic Vehicle Society joined the Wearside Wanderers Scooter Club. The day also featured more live music from The Magic Beings and The Heartbeats.
With great feedback from both businesses who took part and the audience, plans are already drawn up to repeat the event’s success with an even bigger and better festival next year!
