Remembrance Weekend in Sunderland...

Remembrance Concert - Saturday November 12th 2016 and Remembrance Parade - Sunday November 13th 2016

This year's Remembrance Concert takes place at the Seaburn Centre from 7.00pm until (approximately) 9.30pm with doors opening at 6.30pm.

Tickets are available to purchase from the Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens, Burdon Road, Sunderland, SR1 1PP for a cost of £6.00 or available on the door at the Seaburn Centre.

The Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens is open from Monday to Saturday 10am - 5pm and Sunday 2pm - 5pm.

This year's concert will feature:

  • Hosted by BBC Newcastle's Gilly Hope
  • The Royal Signals Northern Band
  • Band and Bugles of Durham Army Cadet Force
  • The Shoeshop Quartet, a professional girl group from the North-East of England, specialising in Barbershop and close-harmony acapella singing.
  • Ste Johnson
  • March on of Her Majesty’s Forces, and the Standards of the Royal British Legion, and the Emergency Services

The annual Remembrance Parade will take place at the Cenotaph on Burdon Road, Sunderland, The parade will be lead by The Royal (Signals) Northen Band and the Bearpark and Esh Colliery Band.

Units taking place in this year's parade include: The 4th Regiment Royal Artillery (Sunderland's adopted regiment), The Household Cavalry, The Light Dragoons, 5 Armoured Medical Regiment, RAF Boulmer and 3 Rifles.

The Parade RSM will be WO1 Sean Armstrong.

Members of the public are welcome to attend. Anyone thinking of coming along is advised to dress warmly and be in place at the war memorial by 10.15 am.

A limited amount of seating is available in the tiered seating from 9.00 am. Access to the disabled platform is available from the same time. Parking in the Civic Centre car will be available free of charge.

Road closures are in place from 9.30 am – with access to Civic Car Park from Park Lane only after this point.
