Sunderland’s Christmas programme will launch with the flick of a switch on Thursday 13 November as a very special guest helps to switch on the city’s Christmas lights. 90s pop star Faye Tozer, from the hugely popular award winning group Steps, will join The Right Worshipful, The Mayor of Sunderland, Cllr Stuart Porthouse and Balamory's PC Plum AKA Andrew Agnew from the Empire Theatre’s Christmas pantomime, in pressing that all important button.
Since settling in the North East with her Sunderland born husband, Faye has developed a real love for the region and is looking forward to playing such an important part in Sunderland’s festive programme.
The event which will be held at the Crowtree site, will see the switch on being preceded by a full stage programme. Beginning at 6pm, the evening’s entertainment will feature this year’s City Sings winners, East Herrington Primary School Choir and Eclipse, Southmoor Secondary School Choir as well as the rhythm and blues tones of The Revolutionaires.
